Progeny Of The World Famous Janssen Brother's
Blauwe '48 In The USA.

There are no better racing pigeons in the world than those of the world famous Janssen Brother's of Arendonk, Belgium. Perhaps the very best bloodline in their arsenal was that of the Blauwe '48. This champion stud cock descends from The Schalieblauwe '32 and The Blauw Van 30. This was the foundation breeding pair and origin of the world famous Janssen Strain. The Schalieblauwe '32 was bred by Cas Goosens from two pigeons he acquired from Schoeter, a premier racing pigeon fancier in his day. The Blauw Van '30 was of the Old Henri Janssen Family. Together this pair produced the Old Witoger '33 who is grandsire to The Blauwe '48 via a daughter. It is this bloodline that flows in most all champion racing pigeons today.

In this article I will attempt to diagram how this bloodline is linked to the champion racers of Staf Van Reet that now reside in the USA.

Blauwe '48

Schoon Licht - Dtr. of Blauwe '48

Daniel 57x 1st, Dikke Prins 26x 1st, Prins 32x 1st. All full brothers and sons of the Janssen Duivin '69.

Louchart Duivin - Bred from a full brother to Daniel.

Donkere Witpen Daniel 17x 1st - son of Louchart Duivin when paired to Daniel.

Donkere Witkop Soontjes- Dtr. of Donkere Witpen Daniel.

Blue Terror, Belg-6546089/95 - Son of Donkere Witkop Soontjes bred by Staf Van Reet. Foundation breeder for Sleepy Hollow Loft USA. Blue Terror is only one of many direct descendents of the Blauwe '48 that have proven themselves as champion breeders in their 1st breeding season at Sleepy Hollow Loft.

Notice the rhythm if you will of opposite sex off spring. It appears that the very best males produce daughters who in turn produce the next generation of champion males. This trend continues and can be traced back in this specific breeding pattern. This method of breeding has produced the pigeons that have become the legends of the sport and perpetuate the winning gene pools. This system of pairing pigeons can be observed in every winning family of racing pigeons of any origin. When searching pedigree's of other families of pigeons it is no coincidence to find this method of breeding has produced the very best of the game. All the Masters of our sport have used this system either knowingly or by accident. Either way, champion after champion have evolved in this manner and have withstood the test of time.

Pull from your memory any legendary champion pigeon you have ever heard of and put it to the test. Search the pedigree and discover as I have learned and the Masters have long known. By applying this method of breeding to your loft, the percentages of good racers will increase dramatically. Racing pigeons in part is a percentage game. Not every pigeons will reach champion status but without breeding in this fashion you will be hard pressed to produce that special racer you have searched for.

This method also helps you select what pigeons you should purchase to add to your breeding program. There is no need to purchase direct children of the top racers. Grandchildren and even great grandchildren produced using this breeding method have the same chance to be a top breeder as direct children do.

This, what I have coined the "Breeding Right Program", is what has been adopted at Sleepy Hollow Loft and has proven to produce our very best pigeons. This method of line breeding allows us to reach back in time to the genetics of the Champion Racers Of All Time and place those winning genes in our young racers. Using this method, our pigeons have produced multiple winners across the USA including 1st and 5th place Hall Of Fame Winners in a very short time. These are pigeons that both well experienced and novice fanciers can and do win with. The proper selection of breeders and the "Breeding Right Program" will have success knocking at your door. Line bred back to one of the best racing pigeons in history, The Blauwe '48 and see the difference.
